The International Society for Respiratory Protection

Oxford Header

Over the years we think we have been asked every question we are ever going to be asked about getting to a conference, taking part, and getting home. Over the coming months, those questions will be listed and answered here. But, if you have any new ones for us, please go to our contact page and let us know.

What is ISRP?
The International Society for Respiratory Protection, ISRP, is a non-profit body whose charter is to provide an educational and informational service to all individuals involved in respiratory protection. The Society convenes conferences at various locations around the world at regular intervals. The main purpose of ISRP is to bring together occupational health and safety professionals in the field of respiratory protection to share ideas and research findings.

What is the conference about?
The purpose of the conference is to share the latest in respiratory protection research with the international community.  The conference will include presentations, posters, and an exhibition.

Does the conference count towards my continuing education requirements?

ISRP conferences traditionally meet the criteria of several bodies (e.g. ABIH, BCSP, NSPE, and ISHM) for continuing education.  Once the exact program is confirmed we will provide the estimated number of technical contact hours.  Certificates of attendance will be provided on request to valid conference attendees.

Should I present a paper or a poster?
We encourage all potential attendees to consider presenting a paper. or a poster.  If you think you have something interesting to say on one of the session topics, please consider submitting an abstract.

How long should a presentation be?
Each paper is expected to run for about 20 minutes including 5 minutes for questions and comments. Session Chairs will be under strict instruction to keep to the program on time.

How do I submit my paper or poster?

We are open to receive abstracts from the 2nd January 2024 and up until the deadline of the 30th June 2024.  Details may be found here.

What is the daily program?
The technical program each day will have a specific theme. Presentations will concentrate on topics related to the daily theme. Each day we will have keynote speakers to introduce the theme for the day. However, the conference is about more than scientific presentations.  A number of networking opportunities will be offered throughout the conference.  In the past, these include welcome receptions, social events, and an exhibition for manufacturers, test houses, and other organizations associated with respiratory protection.

How much does it cost?
The registration costs can be found here.

How do I register?
Visit the Conference Care registration page here.

How do I obtain an invitation letter?

Invitation letters in support of VISA applications will be provided to registered delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, and invited speakers.  Contact  to request an invitation letter.  Please include your full name as it appears on your passport, and country from which you are applying for a VISA to Great Britain.  Please note that the letter of invitation does not guarantee entry and that the ISRP 2021 Oxford Conference committee will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of delegates.

What is the local currency?
The local currency is the pound sterling.

Can I come just for a day?
Yes, there are daily rates available. However, the Awards Dinner is free only to full-week conference attendees.

Should my company be a sponsor?
ISRP relies on the goodwill and generosity of sponsoring organizations to make the conference a success and financially viable. By sponsoring the conference you will receive special benefits as well as a number of advertising opportunities. There are several levels of sponsorship available.  Every sponsorship, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated by your Society, will help raise the quality of the conference overall, and will provide lasting exposure to your organisation.

Is there an exhibition?
Yes. Exhibit your products and services during our Tuesday event.  Show your latest innovations to an influential and widely experienced audience.  Meet and mix with decision makers, scientists, and professionals from around the world.

How do I travel around Oxford?
The venue of the conference, Pembroke College, is accessible via taxi service directly from nearby airports and train stations.  Nearby airports include London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham, and Bristol.  Oxford Station offers rail service to and from multiple locations across England and Scotland.  Detailed information on several travels options are available here ---> Travel to Oxford

Which is the Conference Hotel?
More details regarding hotel options will be posted when they become available.

Can a partner come along?
We welcome all partners to Oxford.

What would partners do if they came along?
Oxford is a great place for sightseeing and has many attractions!  Oxford itself has many good restaurants and pubs, the Ashmolean and Pitt-Rivers Museums, Christ Church and of course punting on the River.  Possible excursions outside of Oxford include Blenheim Palace, London, Stonehenge and Stratford upon Avon.

What is the weather like that time of year?

In most years, Oxford averages a daily maximum temperature for September that's between 61 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit (16 to 20 degrees Celsius). The minimum temperature usually falls between 48 and 52 °F (9 to 11 °C).   In late September the chance for cloud cover is 50% and the chance of rain averages ~30%.  As such if it is raining one day, it will be just as likely to be clear, dry, and pleasant the next.

What about security?
Oxford is fairly safe, with a relatively low crime rate, although it obviously has more crime than smaller towns and less populated areas, since it is still a city.  If you are aware of your surroundings and use your common sense, you'll be quite safe during your stay in Oxford.

What about refunds?

Our refund policy is part of our terms and conditions provided when you register. You can download the cancelation policy here.
